Someone Special

Hatarakou and I went to a swimming pool today. Looking at various of people playing in the water, a swimmer caught my eyes. I pointed at him so that Hatarakou will know what I'm going to talk about.

"That man can swim well. Do you think he can be someone special soon?" I asked him. Simply smiling happily.

"I don't know," he answered short. Watching the man swimming.

"Do you want to be a special person?" I think he wanted to be one. Everyone wants to be special!

"It's not like I can be one," he answered while drinking a cold drink in his hand. He seems to have less spirit than usual. I wanted to cheer him up!

"That's not true! You're special in my eyes. Everyone that I met is very special!" I told him that he is special like everyone else that I met in my entire life. I can see the future! He will say something like 'That is a personal opinion,' and I will backfire him with something wonderful.

"That's..." he said and I cut his sentence.

"What does it matters if it is a personal opinion? You are special in my eyes!" I insisted. Telling him that he is special is the best way to cheer someone up!

"..." he paused a moment. He must be surprised to hear that he is special! I am glad that I can cheer him up.

"My brother died last year... He didn't get to see you... Does that made him non-special..?" he asked. He has the looks of someone depressed. He has lonely eyes mode. Staring deep into my eyes, waiting for an answer. Looks like someone who's about to cry.

"...!" I gasped. Never thought he would give me an answer like that. I have to think for an answer! Think! Think! Think! This is giving me heartbeats. I didn't know what to answer and kept quite. The silence continued for a few seconds. It is the longest seconds in my entire life. He suddenly gazed down at the floor.

"I guess, you agree, huh..?" his eyes are full of tears. He looked away and turned back. Leaving me alone. I stood there, didn't know what to do. Thinking that maybe...

My plan backfired.
